Africarium

We have recently visited one of the newest Wrocław attractions – The Africarium. There has been lately some rumpus regarding the increase in ticket prices, but that’s not what I want to write about. 

Anyway, if you consider going to the ZOO, you should have a few hours to spare. Well...at least 4, since the area of the ZOO is really huge, plus there are some attractions for kids, and we all know that little explorers will probably want to see everything :) Preferably, from the inside of a wooden carriage, pulled by their loved ones.

This time, while going to the ZOO, we were actually planning to see the Africarium – and we visited our old friends on the way, too.

 I bet you wonder what our impressions are, huh?

Well, here you go!

In general, it was GREAT! And to be more precise, also great! Well, maybe except for the smell coming from the increased temperature enclosures…..as you can imagine. The hippos’ place was OK, though :) 

The whole Africarium is really impressive. The building was very intricately designed. Cloakrooms. bistro… All exactly the way it should be, including beautifully painted walls resembling the landscape of African savannah, plus logically arranged tour of the whole facility.

I thought it was going to be claustrophobic – knowing the Polish “pomposity”, I expected a few tanks and a couple of animals in the enclosure, so I was pleasantly surprised.

 The animals have large areas of land at their disposal. We can observe them from different perspectives, too – from the top, from the side or underwater. Swimming alligators and particularly hippos offer a beautiful and extraordinary view. During our visit, though, the animals decided that they would rather take a nap. Two years ago we went to Barcelona, and we visited L’Aquarium, where everything was placed underwater. However, even though I bet they have more sharks in Barcelona, and the underwater tunnel is really enormous, I liked our Africarium more – the remarkable variety of animal and plant species, their close proximity, and the tunnel where you can almost touch stingrays and sharks. That is really impressive!

Just as I suspected watching from a distance, the souvenir shop was a great disappointment – prices like in Barcelona. Paying 30PLN for an ordinary, tiny cuddly toy that you can buy in every supermarket is just too much. Still, if somebody wants to take home a souvenir from a place like that, it’s no wonder there are always people around there. It’s a pity, though; they don’t have souvenirs with their own emblem. 

To sum up, Africarium is a wonderful place to visit with your family. Despite the prices, it’s worth the money. It was great! We’ll definitly go there again.

Niedawno odwiedziliśmy Afrykarium, jedną z najnowszych atrakcji Wrocławia. Zrobiło się ostatnio szumnie w związku z podniesieniem cen biletów, ale nie o tym będę tu pisać.

W każdym razie, wybierając się do ZOO warto zaplanować tu w zasadzie ładnych parę godzin. No... przynajmniej 4 - bo teren jest ogromny a mamy tu także atrakcje dla dzieci, no i wiadomo, że mali, ciekawi podróżnicy będą chcieli zobaczyć najlepiej wszytko. :) I najlepiej z drewnianego wózeczka ciągniętego przez bliskich.

Tym razem idąc do ZOO wybraliśmy się właściwie do Afrykarium - a przy okazji odwiedziliśmy naszych starych znajomych.

I pewnie ciekawi jesteście jakie wrażenia, co?

No to już piszę Ogólnie SUPER, w szczegółach też - no może oprócz zapachu na wybiegach w miejscach z podwyższoną temperaturą... No sami sobie to możecie wyobrazić. Chociaż u hipopotamów było ok.:)

Całość robi wrażenie. Budynek zaprojektowany z ogromna wyobraźnią. Szatnie. Bistro. Wszystko na miejscu. Pięknie pomalowane ściany - jak na afrykańskiej sawannie. Logika w zwiedzaniu.

Myślałam, że będzie tu klaustrofobicznie - znając polski "rozmach" to spodziewałam się kilku akwariów i kilku zwierząt na wybiegu. A tu miła niespodzianka.

Zwierzęta mają do dyspozycji duże tereny  -możemy je też obserwować z różnych perspektyw, z góry z boku, pod wodą. Pływające aligatory i w szczególności hipopotamy to piękny i niecodzienny widok. Choć podczas naszej wizyty zwierzęta chyba wolały uciąć sobie drzemkę. Byliśmy dwa lata temu w Barcelonie w L'Aquarium - tam wszystko znajdowało się pod wodą i choć w Barcelonie mają z pewnością więcej rekinów, a tunel podwodny jest ogromny, to mimo wszystko bardziej podoba mi się nasze Afrykarium. Różnorodność gatunków zwierząt i roślin, ich bliskość - tunel w którym możesz prawie dotknąć ręką przepływających płaszczek i rekinów. To robi wrażenie!

Tak jak podejrzewałam - obserwując z daleka - rozczarował nas sklep z pamiątkami - ceny jak w Barcelonie. No niestety małe zwykłe maskotki jakie można kupić w marketach po 30 zł to przesada. Ale mimo wszytko kiedy ktoś chce mieć pamiątkę z takiego miejsca to trudno się dziwić, że w sklepie ktoś się ciągle kręci. Szkoda tylko, że nie mają pamiątek z własnym emblematem. Podsumowując - Afrykarium jest z pewnością super miejscem na spędzenie czasu z rodziną. Mimo cen - warta wydanych pieniędzy. Było świetnie!

I z pewnością znów się tam wybierzemy.
